Waldenströmska

Waldenströmska (The estate of Waldenström).

Waldenströmska i Åmål

The glove maker Lars Lindbäckhad the estate built in 1795. It is one of the best kept craftsman estates in Sweden, with its wooden houses and the typical Swedish red courtyard setting, with a bright front facing the street. A storehouse for salt, a tannery and stables could all be found in the long red houses.

The man who gave the house its name, Herman Otto Waldenström (1837-1908) only lived here for some years, much later. He was a regimental - and city doctor.

At one time, the scale master and city treasurer L. D. Larsson (1798-1846) owned the estate. He was the father of the scale master and City Council Chairman Petter Larsson. One of Åmål's most famous 20th century personalities.

The property is now privately owned.

It was declared a historical monument in 1978.
